China Yizhong's 12 meter light alloy ring rolling mill successfully rolled in one go
On August 21st, the 12 meter light alloy ring rolling mill, manufactured by China Yizhong Group Co., Ltd., was successfully rolled in one go at Hunan Zhongchuang Kongtian New Materials Co., Ltd. The rolled 12 meter light alloy super large ring reached the expected accuracy requirements, breaking the world record for the maximum diameter of light alloy of 10 meters, laying a solid foundation for China's new large-scale transportation and deep space exploration projects.
Large diameter and ultra large diameter light alloy rings are the core components of the aerospace industry, which are related to national strategic security. The extreme manufacturing of high-quality light alloy rings limits the development of China's aerospace vehicles, while the core technology of large-scale high-end ring rolling mills for manufacturing high-quality light alloy integral rings is monopolized by developed Western countries. With the changing international situation, the import of core technologies is restricted, and the localization of high-end heavy-duty light alloy ring rolling mills has become a bottleneck that restricts the improvement of China's aerospace carrying capacity. The ring rolling equipment has the characteristics of intensive technology, complex system, and strong driving force, reflecting the development ability of the country's deep space exploration technology. It is the key to cultivating a strong strategic emerging industry and realizing the dream of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse.
The research team has achieved important results in the rolling of large-diameter thin-walled rings, large irregular shaped rings, and 'force position' compliance control. The successful rolling of 12 meter light alloy rings marks a new level in the manufacturing of China's aerospace overall rings.
